Arrested election gun ban violators now 535 —PNP

A total of 535 individuals have been arrested for violating the election gun ban as of Thursday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday.
In an update, the PNP said the region with the most number of nabbed violators was Metro Manila with 147, followed by Central Luzon with 105, and Central Visayas with 69.
The arrested suspects include one PNP personnel, four Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel, two personnel from other law enforcement agencies, 18 security guards, and four foreign nationals.
Seized from the violators were 208 revolvers, 166 pistols, 25 replica guns, 13 Class A firearms, 11 explosives, six shotguns, four rifles, and 104 others.
Meanwhile, the PNP said there was one validated election-related incident of violence in Western Visayas.
Three suspected election-related incidents of violence were also reported in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and Western Visayas.
The PNP confirmed that the four incidents of violence previously reported, including three in Western Visayas and one in Ilocos Region, were not related to the polls.
Based on Comelec Resolution No. 11067, the gun ban is effective starting January 12 to June 11 in a bid to lessen election-related violence.
The campaign period for senatorial candidates and party-list groups is set from February 11 to May 10, 2025. Meanwhile, the campaign period for candidates for House of Representatives and parliamentary, provincial, city and municipal elections will be from March 28 to May 10.
Election Day is on May 12, but overseas voters may cast their votes from April 13 to May 12, while local absentee voters may cast their votes from April 28 to 30. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
