DSWD: First 1,000 days cash aid also covers kids up to 2 years old

DSWD F1KD first 1,000 days covers children 2 years old

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reiterated on Wednesday that the government’s conditional cash grant for pregnant and lactating mothers also covers children up to two years old.

The First 1,000 Days of Life (F1KD) program is part of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), which helps beneficiary mothers ensure the health of their children in the first 1,000 days.

This is an additional financial assistance worth P350 a month under the 4Ps alongside other aids such as the health grant (P750 monthly per household), education grant (P300 to P700 per child for 10 months), and rice subsidy (P600 per month).

“Ang sakop ng programa natin ay either buntis o 0 to 2 years old na bata. So hindi po nagma-matter dyan kung nanay o tatay yung grantee, ang importante po yung grantee ay either asawa o anak nya yung mapapasama doon sa program natin na F1KD,” said 4Ps  Social Marketing Division Chief Marie Grace Ponce said in the DSWD’s online talk show.

(The program covers either pregnant women or children aged 0 to 2 years old. So it does not matter if the mother or father is a grantee. What matters is that the spouse or the children are grantees for them to be included in the F1KD.)

The F1KD program was rolled out in early January wherein beneficiaries will receive a P350 monthly grant to cover essential health and nutrition expenses during the critical period of a child’s life.

The DSWD earlier said that around 80,000 mothers with children 0 to 2 years old will benefit from the program.

To receive the F1KD grants, Ponce explained that all qualified 4Ps beneficiaries must comply with the conditionalities of the program which include the following:

  • Accessing pre-natal services at any Department of Health-accredited health facilities
  • Tracking pregnancy and receiving ante-natal care services, child birthing, or delivery at any DOH-accredited facility
  • Attending post-natal visits
  • Participating in counseling sessions
  • Obtaining micronutrient supplements and immunizations

The DSWD official added that qualified beneficiaries can update their beneficiary profile through forms provided by the city or municipal links,  or through the i-Registro web portal. –NB,GMA Integrated News
