GMA Integrated News (GMAIN) bagged the gold for its "Panata Kontra-Fake News" campaign at the prestigious 60th Anvil Awards in the Public Relations Program-Best Use of Partnerships category.
The award recognized the network-led campaign to battle disinformation and raise public awareness on genuine, credible news.
Oliver Victor B. Amoroso, Senior Vice President and Head of GMA Integrated News, GMA Regional TV, at GMA Synergy received the award in ceremonies on January 28, 2025 at the Manila Hotel, and was accompanied by Senior Manager Christina V. Pascual.
Amoroso thanked the Anvil Awards for recognizing the "massive undertaking" initiated by GMAIN in spearheading the campaign.
The broadcast giant gathered almost 60 media organizations, universities, and the Commission on Elections to pledge to fight fake news and disinformation as the core goal of Panata Kontra-Fake News.
The country's largest campaign against fake news and disinformation was launched on August 30.
Amoroso said GMAIN puts a premium on reporting the facts in its stories. Ahead of the May 2025 elections, it is also crucial to bring discussions on the fight against misinformation and disinformation to the fore.
Anvil Awards chairman Mikey de Quiros said GMAIN was conferred the gold award because of the impact of its campaign on the Filipinos.
GMA Network also emerged in the Top 3 organizations which earned it a nomination for the Grand Anvil Award, the highest award given by the organization.
