4Ps members urged to avail of low-cost SSS insurance
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Wednesday urged Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries to sign up as members of the Social Security System (SSS) in order to avail of its low-cost social insurance.
Under the 4Ps AlkanSSSya Program, 4Ps beneficiaries will be given access to low-cost social insurance covering income loss and sickness, among others, with the monthly premium shouldered by the beneficiaries.
The program was implemented under a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the DSWD and SSS in July 2024.
The MOA also provides the creation of a contribution subsidy table, which is based on an actuarial study conducted by the SSS and the beneficiaries' actual ability to pay the P570 minimum monthly amount.
“Sa AlkanSSSya Program ay tinuturuan natin yung ating mga beneficiaries na makapag-ipon, mag-impok at maghulog doon sa kanilang SSS kasi ito ay social insurance para makatulong sa kanila kung sakaling may magka-sakit, sa panganganak, burial assistance, at iba pa,” Marie Grace Ponce, 4Ps Social Marketing Division chief, said Wednesday in the agency’s online program.
(In the AlkanSSSya Program, we teach our beneficiaries to save and contribute to their SSS because this is their social insurance that could help them in case of illness, childbirth, burial assistance, and so on.)
Ponce added the program aims to help 4Ps beneficiaries sustain themselves and help them from poverty.
Interested 4Ps beneficiaries may contact the SSS or their city or municipal offices for the AlkanSSSya Program. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
