Marcos, Liza host senators, spouses for dinner at Bahay Pangulo

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos had dinner with senators and their spouses on Monday.

According to the First Lady's post on Facebook, the dinner was held at the Bahay ng Pangulo.

The lawmakers seen in the photo Liza Marcos posted were Ramon Revilla Jr., Lito Lapid, Francis Tolenino, Sherwin Gatchalian, Raffy Tulfo, Joel Villanueva, Mark Villar, Jinggoy Estrada, Francis Escudero, Cynthia Villar, Alan Peter Cayetano, Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Loren Legarda, and Robin Padilla.

Among the incumbents running under Marcos' "Bagong Pilipinas" senatorial ticket are Pia Cayetano, Lapid, Tolentino, Revilla, and Imee Marcos.

Imee, and Senators Grace Poe, Risa Hontiveros, Bong Go and Ronald 'Bato' deal Rosa were asked by GMA News Online why they were not in the photo posted by the First Lady.

Poe said she was present during dinner but was "late" for the group picture.

Imee said her office did not get an invitation.

"I didn't attend, office didn't receive any invite," she said.

The get-together happened on the same day the Iglesia ni Cristo held its National Rally for Peace at the Quirino Grandstand.

Its leadership said the rally, which was attended by 1.5 million according to the police, was not political even as it was held to support Marcos' stance against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Under the 1987 Constitution, impeachable officials impeached by the House of Representatives shall face the Senate convened as an impeachment court. —NB, GMA Integrated News
