Sara's ratings decline; Marcos keeps majority's trust, approval -OCTA

Vice President Sara Duterte's trust and performance ratings have declined, while President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has retained most of the public's trust and approval, according to OCTA Research's 2024 4th Quarter Tugon ng Masa survey.

Duterte's trust rating fell to 49%, down from 59% in the 3rd Quarter of 2024. Similarly, her performance rating dropped to 48% from 52%.

“This marks the first time that both the trust and performance ratings of the Vice President have fallen below the majority threshold. These figures represent the lowest ratings for the Vice President since December 2023 and reflect a continuing downward trend,” the study noted.

Most of those who distrust Duterte are from the National Capital Region, while Mindanao remains her stronghold, recording the highest trust ratings. Her performance ratings follow a similar pattern, with the highest satisfaction in Mindanao and the most dissatisfaction in Luzon.

Meanwhile, President Marcos experienced a slight decline in his ratings. His trust rating dipped to 65% from 69% in the previous quarter, while his performance rating dropped to 64% from 66%.

Marcos’ highest trust and performance ratings were recorded in Balance Luzon, while Mindanao showed the highest levels of distrust and dissatisfaction.

Senate President Chiz Escudero and House Speaker Martin Romualdez also received favorable ratings from the public. Escudero scored a 63% trust rating and a 65% performance approval, while Romualdez earned a 58% trust rating and a 59% performance score.

The survey data was collected from November 10 to 16, 2024, through 1,200 face-to-face interviews conducted nationwide. The study has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
