Thousands join Iglesia ni Cristo rallies nationwide

Thousands of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) members in various regions across the Philippines gathered to participate in rallies advocating for peace in the country.

According to a report on 24 Oras on Monday, peace assemblies were conducted in key areas of the Visayas and Mindanao.

In Davao City, an estimated 300,000 to 500,000 INC members gathered, resulting in the temporary closure of 10 roads.

In Cebu City, thousands more attended a rally, with many participants camping overnight at the venue from Sunday.

In Ormoc City, Leyte, around 16,000 individuals joined the peace assembly.

Similar events were held in Ilagan, Puerto Princesa, Butuan, and Pagadian.

Nationwide, over one million people reportedly took part in the INC’s peace demonstrations, with the largest gathering at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

Malacañang expressed hope that the INC's “National Rally for Peace” would help shed light on pressing national issues.

Vice President Sara Duterte also commended the INC for the event, describing it as a “powerful” display of unity and faith. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/DVM, GMA Integrated News
