Chavit Singson drops out of Senate race
Former Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson on Sunday announced that he is dropping out of the Senate race in the upcoming national and local elections.
In a speech to supporters at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Singson said he will no longer pursue his candidacy due to health reasons.
(After much thought, I have decided that I will no longer continue with my candidacy in the Senate. I don’t want to force it, especially at the expense of my health.)
He added that despite his treatment with pneumonia, he still needs rest.
(I feel your love and continued support for me. With your overwhelming support, I knew that I was a sinner.)
Singson, who had also served as deputy national security adviser, said that despite withdrawing from his campaign, he will continue providing electric vehicles to transport groups.
Transport group block dubbed as “Magnificent 7” had said they are backing Singson’s Senatorial bid because he has promised to supply them with modern PUV units.
During the filing of candidacy, Singson also vowed to provide bank accounts to those in need. — BM, GMA Integrated News
