PHLPost opens new hubs to boost next-day delivery service

Faster delivery service may be expected as the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) is set to open new next-day delivery hubs across parts of Metro Manila this month.

According to PhilPost, new express mail service (EMS) delivery hubs will be launched in Manila, Makati Central Post Offices, and Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City starting Monday, January 13 to optimize the domestic express mail services (DEMS) within the capital region.

The DEMS allows customers to send urgent messages, business documents, or goods within the Philippines as items are usually delivered the next day after mailing, provided they are posted before the cut-off time.

Cut-Off time post offices in Caloocan, Valenzuela, Marikina, Novaliches, Pasig, Pateros, Taguig, Mandaluyong, San Juan, SM Mall of Asia and SM Manila is at 2 p.m. while NCR areas in Manila, Makati, Quezon City, Pasay, Paranaque, Muntinlupa, and Las Pinas Post Office accepts packages until 3:30 PM.

Packages accepted after the cut-off time will be delivered within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, EMS operations will be managed by their respective hubs with Quezon City Central Post Office Hub serving Caloocan City, Malabon, Marikina, Navotas, Novaliches, Quezon City, and Valenzuela; the CMEC hub servicing Pasay, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Taguig; Makati Central Post Office Hub operating in Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, and Pateros; and Manila Central Post Office delivering to greater Manila area and San Juan.

For international destinations, PHLPost said it is banking on its membership with the Universal Postal Union and the presence of bilateral agreements with 56 countries for the reciprocal exchange of EMS items.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
