A Filipina passenger found carrying suspected cocaine worth more than P24 million was arrested in NAIA.

A Filipina passenger found carrying suspected cocaine worth more than P24 million was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said the suspect arrived from Sierra Leone aboard an Ethiopian Air flight at the NAIA Terminal 3 on Thursday evening.

Authorities said they monitored suspicious flight patterns taken by the suspect, prompting them to refer the passenger to the drug interdiction task group (DITG). An inspection of her luggage yielded suspicious substances concealed inside the lining of four handbags and one suitcase.

An examination by the Bureau of Customs confirmed the P4.574 kilogram powdery substance was cocaine with a street value of more than P24 million.

The suspect is currently in the custody of authorities for inquest proceedings and will be facing drug trafficking charges.
