714 devotees hurt so far during Traslacion 2025 —MPD

A total of 714 devotees were given medical attention during the ongoing Traslacion in Manila on Thursday, according to the Manila Police District (MPD).

Some of the devotees got injured while trying to climb the andas, or the carriage that bears the image of Jesus Nazareno.

However, according to the Philippine Red Cross Operation, there has been an increase in patients in the emergency field due to an alleged stampede or crowd crush.

“May increase bigla ng sugod ngayon ng pasyente sa emergency field hospital namin dahil nagkaroon daw ng stampede o crowd crush kanina sa may Santa Rita College malapit sa San Sebastian,” a Philippine Red Cross official told GMA Integrrated News via Viber message.

The Traslacion, or the procession of the 400-year-old image of Jesus Nazareno, started early Thursday morning with thousands of devotees flocking around areas of the City of Manila to join and witness the event.

The procession started at Quirino Grandstand, where the Pahalik or Pagpupugay has been held since January 7. It will end at the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno or Quiapo Church.

According to the Manila City government, an estimated crowd of 2.2 million attended the Traslacion 2025, as of 2 p.m. — BM, GMA Integrated News
