Quiapo Church sets Novena, Holy Mass on Jan. 8 ahead of Nazareno 2025

A novena and Holy Mass are scheduled on Wednesday at the the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo, Manila City ahead of the Feast of Jesus Nazareno on Thursday, January 9.

It will also be the ninth day of novena Mass in honor of Jesus of Nazareth.

The Quiapo Church announced that the novena will be at 11:45 a.m. and the Holy Mass is scheduled at 12:15 p.m.

The Mass will be led by Rev. Fr. Samuel Estrope II, Parochial Vicar of Parokya ng Santiago Apostol in Plaridel, Bulacan.

The theme for this year's feast is "Mas Mabuti ang Pagsunod kaysa Paghahandog sa mga Umaasa kay Jesus." (Obeying is better than offering for those who trust in Jesus)

The annual feast kicked off last December 31 with a Walk of Thanksgiving on the streets around Quiapo Church.

Millions of devotees flock to Quiapo Church every January 9 to honor the Jesus Nazareno, hoping for answered prayers or miracles to be received in their lives.

Among the highlights of the feast is the Traslacion, or the procession of the 400-year-old black image of Jesus Nazareno from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church. —  Vince Angelo Ferreras/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
