PNP prepares for Iglesia ni Cristo rally on January 13, 2025
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to have a coordination meeting with the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on Monday afternoon in preparation for the nationwide “peace rally” of the church on January 13, 2025.
“Dito po sa [National Capital Region], Region 3, at Region 4-A, so yung mga members po ng INC will converge po sa Liwasang Bonifacio po sa January 13,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said in a press briefing.
(In the National Capital Region, Region 3, and Region 4-A, the members of the INC will converge at Liwasang Bonifacio on January 13.)
“Doon naman po sa ibang mga regions, may mga na-identify po na mga areas like yung mga freedom parks po nila at sports complex po. Yung final location and oras po, this will be a simultaneous nationwide peace rally ng INC,” she added.
(In other regions, there are identified areas like their freedom parks and sports complexes. Regarding the final location and time, this will be a simultaneous nationwide peace rally of the INC.)
Last month, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said it was coordinating with other agencies in preparation for the INC rally.
MMDA chairperson Romando Artes said the agency would also engage with the rally organizers to make sure that its program would not obstruct traffic in the area.
“Well, may coordination naman tayo sa pulis, sa LGU. Ang ano po natin dyan, ima-manage po natin yung traffic, we will make sure na passable ang mga kalsada,” Artes said.
(Well, we are coordinating with the police, the LGU. We will manage the traffic, we will make sure the roads are passable.)
The INC rally was announced on December 4 during a program on the church's media outlet.
“Ang mga kapatid sa INC ay naghahanda na magsagawa ng rally upang ipahayag sa lahat ng kinauukulan na ang INC ay pabor sa opinyon ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na hindi sumang-ayon sa isinusulong ng ilang sektor na impeachment dahil maraming problema ang ating bansa na dapat unahin ng pamahalaan,” said the television host, reading from a statement, during a program on the INC's media outlet.
(The INC brethren are preparing to hold a rally to make it known to all concerned that the INC supports President Bongbong Marcos' opinion against the impeachment pushed by certain sectors, as there are many problems in our country that the government should prioritize.)
“Ang INC ay para sa kapayapaan. Ayaw natin sa anumang uri ng kaguluhan na manggagaling sa anumang panig,” it added.
(The INC stands for peace. We do not want any kind of unrest coming from any side.)
