LTO: More than 639K vehicles apprehended in 2024
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said they were able to apprehend a total of 639,323 motorists for committing various types of traffic violations for 2024.
According to a statement on Friday, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II attributed a 20.75% increase from the 529,439 drivers in 2023 to new strategies to enforce road safety rules and regulations.
Most of the motorists were apprehended in LTO-CALABARZON with over 109,159 motorists or about 144.11% more than those apprehended in 2023.
“I commend our enforcers for going the extra mile in enforcing traffic rules and regulations. Most of them even went on duty at night and even in the wee hours in the morning just to enforce the law,” said Mendoza.
Meanwhile, LTO also conducted night operations to apprehend colorum operations and trucks that violated road safety regulations.
A total of 29,709 vehicles were impounded in 2024, which was 21.93% more than 2023’s 24,366 vehicles.
"Let these results of our operations serve as a reminder to motorists that we will further strengthen our operation to ensure that all motorist follow traffic laws," said Mendoza.
LTO will continue its aggressive aggressive implementation of operations in 2025 to ensure the safety of motorists in the country. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/BAP, GMA Integrated News
