PNP: No serious threats monitored for New Year 2025

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has not monitored any serious threats in connection with the celebration of New Year 2025 but the police organization will continue to implement its security measures.

“So far, wala naman po tayong namo-monitor na seryosong banta na maaaring maka-disrupt po ng pagsalubong sa Bagong Taon pero hindi po tayo nagkukumpiyansa,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo told Dobol B TV in an interview.

(So far, we have not monitored any serious threats that could disrupt the New Year celebration, but we are not being complacent.)

She said the PNP is working with other government agencies such as the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard, among others, to secure the celebration of the New Year.

According to Fajardo, the PNP is also watching out for usual violent incidents from drinking sessions during the New Year revelry.

The PNP on Sunday said its units nationwide are on heightened alert to ensure public safety and response to emergencies amid the New Year celebration.

“We have mobilized our police units to maintain peace and order during New Year celebrations and ensure the safety of travelers heading home,” PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said.

“Coordination with government agencies and local traffic management offices is key to managing the movement of people and vehicles effectively during this busy season,” he added.

The PNP said the organization is ready to provide first aid for firecracker-related injuries and respond to fire incidents in collaboration with local fire protection units.

As the number of injuries rise, the PNP reminded the public of the dangers of firecrackers and urged them to observe fireworks displays in government-designated zones instead.
