Supply of some firecrackers in Bocaue running out
The supply of certain types of firecrackers in Bocaue, Bulacan are starting to get depleted ahead of the New Year festivities.
A fireworks vendor said that prices of their products are likely to increase more on Tuesday, New Year’s Eve, based on an Unang Balita report by James Agustin.
“Wala na pong makuhanan ng mga supply po kaya tumaas ‘yung mga presyo namin,” she said.
(We could not get supplies anymore so our prices have increased.)
The best selling firecrackers in Bocaue are lusis, kwitis, fountain, and sawa.
Some stores in the municipality have also opted to open 24/7 as more people are buying fireworks in time for the New Year 2025 celebrations.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) on Saturday inspected stores selling firecrackers in Bocaue to ensure that safety protocols are being followed.
In Bataan, the police provincial office said Sunday that 12 pieces of pellet guns and 105 Boga devices with an estimated total value of P10,500 were seized amid the crackdown on illegal pyrotechnics.
The Bataan police also confiscated on Saturday 155 Boga devices, 10 boxes of Pacquiao-Ultramaa/ Picollo, 80 pieces of whistling moon/small Kwitis, 10 boxes of Luces, and two large size Judas Belt with an estimated price of P21,400.
As of Monday, data by the Department of Health (DOH) showed that the number of people getting hurt due to fireworks has increased to 163, with 21 fresh cases.
DOH said that the 163 cases recorded from December 22 to 30, 2024 were 44% higher than the 113 cases during the same period last year.—Giselle Ombay/AOL, GMA Integrated News
