Binga Dam releases water, nears exceeding normal high level
Binga Dam in Benguet has released water as it nears exceeding its normal high water level, according to state weather bureau PAGASA on Friday.
In its 8 a.m. update, PAGASA said one gate of Binga Dam opened 0.30 meters, which was releasing 40.09 cubic meters per second (cms).
The water level in Binga Dam rose from 574.85 meters on Thursday to 575 meters on Friday, according to PAGASA.
Binga Dam’s current water level has already reached its normal high water level of 575 meters.
Aside from Binga, Ambuklao Dam in the same province also has one gate opening of 0.3 meters, which was releasing 40.26 cms.
The water level of Ambuklao Dam increased from 751.82 to 751.84 meters. Ambuklao Dam’s normal high water level is 752 meters.
Meanwhile, the water level in Ipo Dam in Bulacan also rose from 100.16 to 100.22 meters, but no gates have been opened so far. The normal high water level of Ipo Dam is at 101.10 meters.
The water level in other major dams either increased or stayed the same on Friday, according to PAGASA's update.
