VP Sara ready to face impeachment complaints

Vice President Sara Duterte said she is willing to face all three impeachment complaints filed against her, stressing she did not break any law.

According to a "24 Oras" report on Wednesday, Duterte said that she did not violate any laws and that she was ready to face her cases.

She said she has lawyers on standby to defend her when the complaints progress into an impeachment trial. She added her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte is also willing to stand as one of her lawyers.

“Well, I am confident that I did not break any law. I did not do anything illegal… Kapag nandiyan na ang kaso, haharapin pa rin namin, (When the cases are there, then we will face it.)” said the Vice President.

Duterte is currently facing three impeachment complaints over the alleged misuse of P612 million confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President.

Earlier, Duterte welcomed the complaints as she stated it was better as she was the only one being attacked.

“So, okay din 'yung impeachment case dahil ako lang ang tinitira doon, ako lang iniimbestigahan noon. Ako lang ang inaatake ng impeachment case. Hindi na kasali ang nga kasamahan ko sa OVP and mga dati kong kasama sa DepEd. Masagot na ng final kung ano 'yung mga inaakusa nila sa akin,” she said.

(So, it’s okay they filed an impeachment case since I’ll only be the one who's being attacked. I’ll only be the one who's being investigated. I’ll only be the one who is being attacked in the impeachment case. My staff in the Office of the Vice President and Department of Education will no longer be involved. I can finally answer what they are accusing me of.) —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
