PCG: Port passengers increased to over 97,000 passengers amid Christmas exodus

A total of 97,346 passengers were reported in all seaports across the country amid the Christmas exodus on Friday morning, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

In a statement, the PCG said that from 6 a.m. to 12 noon, 49,220 outbound and 48,126 inbound passengers were monitored in seaports.

This is higher compared to the 20,024 outbound and 12,596 inbound passengers recorded from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m.

The PCG said 2,997 frontline personnel were deployed in 16 Coast Guard districts and inspected 584 vessels and 554 motorbancas.

In light of the expected influx of port passengers, the PCG said it has placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert starting Friday to January 3, 2025.

“The seafaring public may coordinate with the PCG through its official Facebook page or the Coast Guard Public Affairs Service (0927-560-7729) for inquiries, concerns, and clarifications regarding sea travel protocols and regulations during Pasko 2024,” the PCG said.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
