PNP: Yang is new ACG OIC; Abrugena is new SPD chief
New police officials took over the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) and the Southern Police District (SPD), the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Friday.
PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo told GMA News Online that Southern Police District (SPD) head Police Brigadier General Bernard Yang is the new ACG officer-in-charge.
Yang replaced Police Colonel Rommel Batangan who headed the ACG as officer-in-charge.
Special Action Force (SAF) deputy director Police Brigadier General Manuel Abrugena, on the other hand, was tapped to head the SPD.
According to Fajardo, the movement of police officials took effect on Thursday “to fill up vacancies.”
The movement in ACG top position came after the relief of ACG chief Major General Ronnie Cariaga amid the extortion complaints in connection with their raid in Manila in October.
