Two Taiwanese fugitives arrested at NAIA
Two Taiwanese fugitives who are allegedly leaders of a criminal syndicate abroad were arrested by immigration authorities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
According to John Consulta’s exclusive report in 24 Oras on Monday, the foreigner suspects were nabbed outside one of the NAIA Terminals.
“Yung grupo nila, which is the ‘Bamboo Triad,’ ay isang notorious na grupo sa Taiwan kung saan sila ay involved sa firearms at drug smuggling sa iba’t-ibang parte ng Asya,” said Bureau of Immigration Fugitive Search Unit chief Rendel Sy.
(Their group, which is the ‘Bamboo Triad’, is a notorious group in Taiwan that is involved in firearms and drug smuggling in various parts of Asia.)
“Sinasabi din sa isang report na may ipinapatay yung grupo nila sa Japan kung saan napadala sila ng mga miyembro ng kanilang sindikato at doon pinatay yung biktima,” he added.
(One report said that their group has sent some of its members to Japan to kill someone.)
Further, authorities were able to seize two fake Philippine driver’s licenses from the suspects.
The BI noted that the two may have illegally entered the Philippines illegally via backchannels.
“According din sa report ng Taiwanese counterparts, ay pumasok sila sa bansa illegally. So ayun yung iniimbestigahan natin kung paano sila nakapasok dito na walang record dito sa atin. Maaring gumamit sila ng ibang passports or dumaan sa ating backdoor,” said Sy.
(According to a report from our Taiwanese counterparts, they entered our country illegally. So we are investigating how they entered our country without any records. They could have used other passports or entered through our backdoor.)
The BI official added that they are now looking into possible criminal activities of the Taiwanese fugitives while in the Philippines before they can be deported.
The suspects are now detained at the bureau's detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig City.
