NBI seizes P8.5 million worth of counterfeit footwear


The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confiscated counterfeit branded footwear worth P8,518,000 during an operation in Tondo, Manila.

According to a Friday statement, the NBI executed 34 search warrants targeting five shops accused of trademark infringement.

The operation led to the seizure of 1,502 pairs of counterfeit footwear.

“The search was conducted peacefully in the presence of representatives and witnesses, who signed the inventory,” the NBI said in their report.

This operation was initiated following a complaint filed by Lee Bumgarner  Inc. (LBI), a Philippine-based corporation specializing in intellectual property rights enforcement and related services. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
