House sec-gen expects more impeachment suits vs. VP Sara
House Secretary General Reginald Velasco has not transmitted the two impeachment complaints already filed in the House of Representatives against Vice President Sara Duterte as he anticipates more complaints will be filed.
“Hindi pa kasi may balita kami na may mga magfa-file pa. So para isang transmittal na lang kay Speaker,” Velasco told reporters in an interview.
(Not yet because we were told that there will be others filed. So that it will just be one transmittal to the Speaker.)
“May mga congressman na kumausap sa akin na meron daw silang pinag-iisipang i-file o i-endorse kaya on hold kami rito. Naghihintay kami,” he added.
(There are congressmen who have told me that they are thinking of filing or endorsing, so we are on hold. We're waiting.)
The secretary-general clarified that there was no request to delay the transmittal. He said it was his decision.
Velasco, however, does not know when the other impeachment complaints will be filed. But all impeachment complaints will be transmitted to the Office of the Speaker next week, a week before Congress goes on recess.
“I think as early as next week, we will transmit it to the Speaker’s office,” Velasco said.
In the meantime, Velasco’s office is checking whether the impeachment complaints already filed are verified complaints. —NB/BM, GMA Integrated News
