INC to hold peace rally
The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) is set to hold a rally for peace.
The announcement was made at one of the television programs on INC's media outlet Wednesday night.
“Ang mga kapatid sa INC ay naghahanda na magsagawa ng rally upang ipahayag sa lahat ng kinauukulan na ang INC ay pabor sa opinyon ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na hindi sumang-ayon sa isinusulong ng ilang sektor na impeachment dahil maraming problema ang ating bansa na dapat unahin ng pamahalaan,” the television host read the statement.
(The members of the INC are preparing to hold a rally to make it known to all concerned that the INC supports President Bongbong Marcos's stance against the impeachment pushed by certain sectors, as there are many problems in our country that the government should prioritize.)
“Ang INC ay para sa kapayapaan. Ayaw natin sa anumang uri ng kaguluhan na manggagaling sa anumang panig,” it said.
(The INC stands for peace. We do not want any kind of unrest coming from any side.)
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. earlier said he is not supportive of any impeachment plan against Vice President Sara Duterte.
He expressed belief that it would not benefit the lives of Filipinos.
Marcos also confirmed a text message where he was urging lawmakers not to file an impeachment complaint against the Vice President.
Duterte is currently facing two impeachment complaints.
On Monday, an advocacy group filed an impeachment complaint on the grounds of alleged corruption, bribery, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes. It was endorsed by Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña.
On Wednesday, more than 70 representatives from various sectors filed another impeachment complaint. It was anchored on alleged betrayal of public trust in connection with alleged misuse of confidential funds. It was endorsed by the progressive Makabayan bloc.
Meanwhile, Rep. Joel Chua, chairperson of the House good government and public accountability investigating the OVP’s use of confidential funds, said there were no talks about impeachment during a “fellowship” of about 200 House lawmakers with Marcos in Malacañang on Wednesday evening. —AOL/KG, GMA Integrated News
