NBI issues new subpoena vs. Sara Duterte
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday issued a new subpoena to Vice President Sara Duterte to allow her to explain her remark that she ordered someone to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. if she dies.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago confirmed this is for Duterte’s appearance on December 11.
She is being investigated for alleged grave threats in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and possible violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 following her alleged kill order against the President, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Duterte was initially set to appear before the NBI on November 29.
Her camp requested a reschedule as she found out late that the House committee hearing she was set to appear in had been postponed.
She also requested a copy of the complaint and other documents that initiated the investigation, as well as the list of questions that the NBI intends to ask her.
Santiago, however, said the NBI will not provide Duterte with a list of questions.
Meanwhile, should she again fail to appear, the NBI chief said it would submit the evidence it has regarding Duterte’s remarks to the Department of Justice prosecutors.
Duterte had earlier contended that her remarks against the First Couple and Romualdez were “maliciously taken out of logical context.” —RF, GMA Integrated News
