Sara Duterte’s gun permits to be revoked? PNP awaits probe completion

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said it will wait for the completion of the investigation before deciding on the possible revocation of gun permits issued to Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a press briefing, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said the probe of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) will determine if there are grounds to cancel Duterte's firearm licenses.

“Let us wait for the completion po ng investigation na sinasagawa po ng CIDG to determine whether or not these cases filed against her can be used as a ground for possible revocation or cancellation of her [License to Own and Possess Firearms] and firearm registration

Fajardo refused to specify what type of licenses were issued to Duterte.

The PNP earlier said complaints could be lodged in relation to Duterte’s remarks that she gave orders to have President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. assassinated should an alleged plot against her succeed.

Duterte on November 23 said she gave orders for President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez to be assassinated should an alleged plot against her succeed.

She later clarified that her remark was not a threat but she only highlighted the alleged threat to her security.

The PNP on November 27 filed complaints for direct assault, disobedience, and grave coercion against Duterte and others in connection with the disruption at the House of Representatives Detention Center and Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) involving the detention of Duterte’s chief of staff Atty. Zuleika Lopez. —RF, GMA Integrated News
