Quiboloy camp mulls taking back appeal on transfer to Pasig jail

Quiboloy camp mulls taking back appeal on transfer to Pasig jail

The camp of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy is considering taking back its appeal against his transfer to the Pasig City Jail.

“But it turned out maybe it’s useless to fight it. Parang gusto ata talaga ng prosecution doon siya. So we’ll just, you know, take it as it is,” Atty. Israelito Torreon, Quiboloy’s legal counsel, said in an ambush interview at the Justice Department in Manila.

(But it turned out maybe it’s useless to fight it. It seems like the prosecution really wants him there. So we’ll just, you know, take it as it is.)

Quiboloy was transferred from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame to the Pasig City Jail in November.

Torreon said the Pasig court has yet to act on their motion for reconsideration.

“’Yun nga kasi we might be wasting a lot of papers if we insist on our ano sana— Ang sa amin naman yung security niya. We felt before that he would be more secured in Camp Crame given the security threats against him,” he said.

(We might just be wasting a lot of papers if we insist. Our only concern is his security. We felt before that he would be more secure in Camp Crame given the threats against him.)

Though Torreon said they still believe that Quiboloy would be more secure in Camp Crame, he reiterated that it might be “useless” to insist.

“So might as well go with the tide and persevere and overcome,” he said.

Quiboloy was brought to the Philippine Heart Center on November 8 after complaining about chest discomfort on November 7.

According to Torreon, Quiboloy’s condition is now “normal.”

Quiboloy, who calls himself as the "Son of God," is currently facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, before a Pasig court

He is also facing charges under Section 5(b) and  Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

Torreon was at the DOJ to attend a preliminary probe on the complaint filed by former President Rodrigo Duterte against former Interior and Local Government Secretary Behur Abalos and others.

Abalos filed his counter-affidavit on the complaint, saying the charges are baseless.

Meanwhile, Torreon said that some complaints filed against some KOJC members that were initially filed in Davao were refiled before the DOJ.

He said that the next hearing for both complaints are on December 16. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
