Sara Duterte asks NBI to reschedule subpoena; says she will prioritize House hearing
Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday said she requested the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to reschedule her summon as she will prioritize her attendance at the House good government panel inquiry to support her staff.
In a press conference, Duterte confirmed that she received the subpoena from the NBI, where she is to be investigated for alleged Grave Threats and possible violations of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
“I requested to resched the invitation dahil nag conflict sa schedule namin sa hearing ng House of Representative sa Committee on Good Government,” Duterte said.
“Nakikiusap talaga lagi and yun din talaga ang promise ko sa kanila, sa umpisa palang ng lahat ng imbestigasyon na sasamahan ko yung mga employees ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) na pinapatawag sa mga hearings,” she added.
(I requested to reschedule the invitation because of the conflict of our schedule in the House Committee on Good Governance hearing. They always beg me and that was my promise to them, since the investigations started, that I would accompany the employees of the OVP who are called to attend the hearings.)
Duterte is being summoned to NBI headquarters on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024 to explain her statement against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Based on the House website, the Committee on Good Government is scheduled to have a hearing on Friday.
In a recent video, the Vice President said she would have Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez assassinated if she were killed.
Her remarks were made during a virtual press conference where the younger Duterte slammed the House of Representatives’ order to transfer her chief of staff, Atty. Zulieka Lopez, from the House detention facility to the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City.
She had clarified that her assassination statement was not implied as a threat and it was “taken out of logical context.”—Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
