GMA Integrated News bags awards from Commission on Population and Development
The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) on Wednesday recognized the contributions of GMA Integrated News in reporting population and development (POPDEV) programs, issues, and concerns to the public.
CPD granted the Rafael M. Salas Kaunlarang Pantao Award to GMA News Online, GMA News TV, and Super Radyo dzBB for “communicating the POPDEV programs of the CPD to the general public and sustaining the public discourse for the POPDEV agenda.”
GMA Integrated News reporters Vonne Aquino (GMA News TV), Manny Vargas (dzBB), and Giselle Ombay (GMA News Online) received the plaques.
“Eventually, it's not just about the work that we do, it's about the personal connections that we have developed. And so, when we celebrate what we do and the accomplishments we have, we become more meaningful,” CPD executive director Lisa Grace Bersales said in her speech.
The Rafael M. Salas Kaunlarang Pantao Award recognizes the efforts and initiatives of local government units, local chief executives, individuals, and institutions for their significant contribution in advancing the POPDEV agenda.
It also aims to heighten support and participation in implementing the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action (PPD-POA) 2023-2028, which President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. approved last year.
The award was named after Rafael M. Salas, the first director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).—AOL, GMA Integrated News
