Trillanes on Sara Duterte: Hinog na hinog na for impeachment
As far as former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is concerned, the time is ripe for an impeachment complaint to be filed against Vice President Sara Duterte, considering her recent outburst.
In an interview at the House of Representatives, Trillanes expressed confidence that an impeachment complaint will be lodged against Duterte soon.
"Abangan na lang natin. I'm not saying ako 'yung magpa-file, I'm saying meron at merong magpa-file. Hinog na, sobra," Trillanes said.
(Let's just wait. I'm not saying I will be the one to file it. I'm saying it will be filed. The time is very ripe for it.)
A critic of the Duterte family, Trillanes said Duterte's recent actions showed "red flags" and her "unfitness" for her position.
"Remember, as Vice President, she could be President anytime, in cases of emergency," he said.
"Imagine, iyong asal na nilalabas niya, pinapakita niya, bibigyan mo ng power ng presidency 'yan? Dapat kilabutan 'yung bawat Pilipino. Wala ito sa tamang katinuan. Kaya hinog na hinog for impeachment,” Trillanes added.
(Imagine, with her actuations, you'll give her the power of the presidency? Every Filipino should be scared. This person is not in her right mind. That's why the time is ripe for impeachment.)
Asked if such an impeachment complaint would prosper all the way to a conviction by the Senate impeachment court, Trillanes said, "Well, we will never know unless we try."
GMA News Online has reached out to Duterte for comment and will publish it as soon as it becomes available. She is also set to hold a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
In an online press conference early Saturday morning, a visibly angry Duterte said she has hired a person to kill President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr., First Lady Liza-Araneta Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez in the event that she is killed. She also cursed at the First Couple and Romualdez.
Duterte, however, would later on said that her statement on hiring a person to kill Marcos and the others has been "taken out of logical context."
The daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte is facing a House panel inquiry on the allegedly questionable budget use of her office and that of the Department of Education when it was under her leadership.
