PNP did not receive info on threat vs VP Sara —Fajardo

The PNP said it has not received information on the supposed threat against Vice President Sara Duterte.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said it has not received information on the supposed threat against Vice President Sara Duterte.

“On the part of the PNP ay wala naman po tayong natatanggap na ganiyang information,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo told Super Radyo dzBB in an interview.

(On the part of the PNP, we did not receive any such information.)

Fajardo said the PNP presumed that any threat against her would have been forwarded to the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG).

“We are assuming and presuming na ito ay naparating sa VPSPG na nasa ilalim naman ng Presidential Security Command dahil ang pangangalaga po ng seguridad ng ating Pangalawang Pangulo at Presidente ay nasa pangangalaga ng Presidential Security Command,” she said.

(We are assuming and presuming that this has reached the VPSPG which is under the Presidential Security Command because the security of our Vice President and President is under the care of the Presidential Security Command.)

Duterte on Saturday said that she ordered to have President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. assassinated should an alleged plot against her succeed.

But she later clarified that her remark was not a threat and that she was only highlighting the alleged threat to her security.

"Sinabi ko, 'Kung mamatay ako.' Ibig sabihin in the first place, meron nang threat sa akin (I don't think the volume was low during the Zoom press conference. I said, 'If I die.' That means in the first place, there was a threat against me). But they simply do not care that I am also concerned about my security because I hear things," Duterte said.

'Generally manageable'

Fajardo, meanwhile, said the peace and order situation in the country remains “generally manageable” despite the tension between the country's top two officials.

The PNP led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is now conducting an investigation to identify the person supposedly ordered by Duterte to assassinate Marcos if she gets killed.

“May ginagawa na pong investigation ang PNP sa pangunguna po ng CIDG pagkatapos nga pong ipagutos ng ating Chief PNP na alamin po kung sino po itong tao na tinutukoy ng ating Vice President doon po sa kaniyang statement na binigay noong nakaraang Sabado. Kasama po yan sa iniimbestigahan ma-establish yung identity ng tao na tinutukoy,” she said.

(The PNP led by the CIDG is conducting an investigation after our Chief PNP ordered the identification of the person our Vice President was referring to in her statement last Saturday. Establishing the identity of this person is part of the investigation.)

For the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), it said that they are not yet looking at anyone as a potential person of interest.

"Wala pa po (na person of interest). Actually, 'yan ang reason bakit gusto naming makausap si pangalawang pangulo natin, VP Sara. Ngayon po magse-serve ng subpoena ang aming mga ahente doon sa Office of the Vice President,” Santiago told Dobol B TV.

(There’s no person of interest yet. Actually, that's the reason why we want to talk to VP Sara. Today our agents will serve a subpoena at the Office of the Vice President.)
