The bicameral Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday approved the confirmation of the ad interim appointment of Jonvic Remulla as secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

It was CA Majority Floor Leader Luis Raymund  "LRay" Villafuerte Jr. who made the motion to recommend the confirmation of Remulla’s appointment.

“Mr. Chair. I move to recommend to the plenary session of the commission for the confirmation of the ad interim appointment of Mr. Juanito Victor Catibayan Remulla as Secretary Department of the DILG. I so moved Mr. Chair,” Villafuerte said during the hearing of the CA Committee on the Interior and Local Government.

Committee chairperson Senator Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri responded, “As duly seconded by the senators and congressmen here, there have been no objections, the motion is hereby approved. Congratulations, Secretary Remulla.”

During the meeting, Remulla was asked about his plans on streamlining the police organization, ban against Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO), prison reforms, among others.

In the plenary session, Zubiri made a motion for Remulla’s appointment as DILG chief, which was supported by several lawmakers.

CA chairman and Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero responded, “Is there any objection? Hearing none, the Commission hereby confirms the ad interim appointment of Juanito Victor Catibayan Remulla as Secretary DILG. Congratulations, Secretary.” — VAL/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
