BuCor completes digitalization of carpeta, PDL records
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Monday said it has completed the digitalization of its carpeta, which consists of records of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), with the help of equipment from the European Union (EU).
In a statement, BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. thanked European Union Ambassador to the Philippines Massimo Santoro for donating seven scanners and seven laptops worth P12 million, which facilitated the digitalization of the records.
The devices will be allocated to the New Bilibid Prison, the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm, the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm, and the Leyte Regional Prison, among others, according to BuCor.
It said the devices will also help officials in monitoring the status of PDLs, calculating or reviewing credits for preventive imprisonment and time allowances, maintaining the inmates’ health information, and for the use of biometric data for PDL identification.
Aside from this, BuCor will also implement a centralized platform for overseeing the Bureau of Corrections' operations called the OneBuCor Portal's Inmate Management Information System.—RF, GMA Integrated News
