BI deports 4 Japanese fugitives
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday deported four Japanese fugitives who were wanted in their country for alleged fraud and theft.
Identified as Ueda Koji, Kiyohara Jun, Suzuki Keiji, and Sawada Masaya, the foreigners were deported for violating the Philippine Immigration Act, specifically for overstaying and for being undesirable aliens, the BI said.
Arrest warrants were previously issued against them in Japan over their alleged involvement in fraudulent activities and theft, the BI added.
“Their immediate deportation was coordinated with Japanese authorities to ensure their return to face legal proceedings in their home country,” the BI said in a press statement.
“The Bureau reiterates its commitment to upholding Philippine immigration laws and supporting international efforts to combat criminality,” it said. —Sundy Locus/KG, GMA Integrated News
