LRT1 Cavite extension to start partial ops Nov. 16, 2024
The LRT1 Cavite Extension is set to start its partial operation with five new stations on Saturday, November 16, 2024, according to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday.
“Mag-start na ng operation bukas ng alas singko ng umaga,” Marcos said in an ambush interview during the inauguration ceremony.
(The operation will start tomorrow at five in the morning.)
“Kaya hinihikayat ko lahat ng ating commuter na subukan ninyo at makikita niyo napakaginhawa kumpara sa trapik na nararanasan natin araw-araw,” he added.
(So I encourage all our commuters to try it and you will see that it is very convenient compared to the traffic we experience every day.)

Phase 1 of the extension project connects Baclaran Station in Pasay City to Dr. Santos Station in Parañaque City through these five new stations:
- Redemptorist-ASEANA Station
- MIA Road Station
- PITX Station
- Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station
- Dr. Santos (formerly Sucat) Station
This is expected to reduce travel time from Parañaque City to Quezon City by almost an hour and accommodate 80,000 more passengers to LRT1's daily ridership of 323,000, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said in a statement.
Under the LRT1 Cavite Extension project, the DOTr is aiming to open a total of eight new stations.
“Once fully operational, the entire stretch of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project will reduce travel time from Baclaran in Paranaque to Bacoor, Cavite to 25 minutes,” it said. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
