Bishop Teodoro Buhain Jr. passes away at 87


Retired auxiliary bishop of the Manila Archdiocese, Bishop Emeritus Teodoro Javier Buhain Jr. passed away at the age of 87,  the Manila Cathedral said Wednesday. 

“With deep faith in the Risen Lord, we announce that our dear Most Rev. Teodoro J. Buhain has returned to the Father’s house today, 13 November 2024, at 11:00 in the morning at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center,” the Manila Cathedral said in a Facebook post.

The same information was released by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines News quoting the archdiocese.

Buhain Jr. was ordained priest in December 1960. 

"In January 1983, at the age of 45, he was appointed auxiliary bishop of Manila and was ordained to the episcopate on Feb. 21 of the same year," CBCP said.

In 2003, Buhain Jr. resigned as auxiliary bishop of Manila.

The Manila Cathedral said details of his wake and funeral have yet to be announced.—Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA Integrated News
