Marcos on PH-US ties amid Trump leadership: I don’t think it will change
“I don't think it will change.”
This was the response of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. when asked about the relations between the Philippines and the United States under the administration of President-elect Donald Trump.
He said Washington was Manila’s oldest treaty partner.
“That hasn’t changed… I will have to see if there’s a major change,” Marcos said.
Trump was elected president by securing more than the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the presidency.
Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez earlier said the cooperation of America in terms of maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific region would not change under Trump.
Marcos looks forward to working with the returning US president on a wide range of issues that "will yield mutual benefits to two nations with deep ties, shared beliefs, common vision, and a long history of working together."—LDF, GMA Integrated News
