Marce agri damage hits P16.2 million — NDRRMC
The agricultural damage brought by Typhoon Marce (international name: Yinxing) has reached a total of P16,247,830, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Monday.
Based on NDRRMC’s 8 a.m. situational report, Ilocos Region incurred 795.82 metric tons of production loss due to Marce, affecting 1,640 farmers and fisherfolk.
The typhoon also left a P25,398,600 cost of damage to infrastructure in Cagayan Valley.
It also partially damaged 26,901 houses and totally destroyed 1,136 houses in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Seventeen roads and four bridges also remained impassable.
One person reportedly died due to the effects of Marce, while another person remained missing in Ilocos Region, according to the NDRRMC on Sunday.
Marce affected 374,177 individuals or 107,325 families in 924 barangays. Of which, 46 families remain in evacuation centers, and 44 were staying elsewhere.
Two cities/municipalities, one each in the Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley, declared a state of calamity in the aftermath of the typhoon.
The NDRRMC said that over P40 million worth of assistance has been provided to affected residents. — Giselle Ombay/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
