1 reported dead due to Marce —NDRRMC
One person reportedly died due to the effects of Typhoon Marce (international name: Yinxing), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Sunday.
The NDRRMC has not yet identified in its 8 a.m. situational report where the reported casualty came from.
One individual also remained missing in the Ilocos Region.
Marce also affected 261,787 people or 76,622 families in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). Of them, a total of 26,803 people were displaced —13,887 were staying in evacuation centers, and 12,916 were seeking temporary shelters elsewhere.
The tropical cyclone also left P25,398,600 worth of damage to infrastructure in Cagayan Valley.
It also totally damaged 892 houses, while 20,038 sustained partial damage.
There were 29 roads and 11 bridges that were also affected and are currently not passable for motorists.
No city and municipality has declared a state of calamity yet in the aftermath of Marce.
So far, the NDRRMC said P16.1 million worth of assistance has been provided to affected residents.
Marce exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday. It severely damaged Cagayan province after making two landfalls.
Residents in the province had to endure the downpour and strong winds brought by the tropical cyclone. —KG, GMA Integrated News
