PDEA: Pharmally exec Lin, drug suspect Allan Lim the same person
Lin Wei Xiong of Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. and Allan Lim allegedly involved in illegal drugs in the report of former police Colonel Eduardo Acierto are the same person, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Moro Lazo said Thursday.
Lazo made the confirmation during the House Quad Committee investigation on the war on drugs during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
The PDEA official said the information given by an agency informant and Acierto on the identity of Lin, Allan Lim, and Wei Xiong Lin matched.
“We were able to talk to a confidential informant. He's a reliable informant. When he talked to us, he hadn't even seen the presentation of Colonel Acierto before the Committee on Dangerous Drugs," Lazo said.
"When we took down [the details of] what he was telling us, it confirms some of the statements of Congressman Acierto,” he added.
Quoting the PDEA informant, Lazo said Lin and Allan Lim also went by the names Allan Lin, Jeffrey Lin, Jeff Lin, Ayong, Lin Wei Xiong, and Wen Li Chen.
"These names all are confirmed by the different statements being heard before the QuadComm,” Lazo said.
“He is a drug personality. He was caught in a shabu laboratory in Tagaytay in 2004,” Lazo added in a separate interview.
Lin's wife, Rose Nono Lin, was present during the QuadComm probe. She stressed that she only knew her husband by one name.
"My husband's name is Lin Wei Xiong," Lin said.
Lazo said the Philippine National Police didn't have information as regards the said names.
"Later on, when Colonel Acierto came out before the Committee on Dangerous Drugs, nagtugma po (the pieces of information matched)," Lazo said.
"So naku-confuse po talaga tayo, but we are only talking of one and the same person: Alan Lin na kinonfirm ni Mrs. Rose Nono Lin na husband niya,” he added.
(We're confused but we are only talking of one person. Alan Lin whom Mrs Rose Nono Lin confirmed as her husband.)
Acierto has said that he worked on a 2017 confidential report tracing the involvement of former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang and Chinese businessman Allan Lim or Lin Wei Xiong to the illegal drug trade.
He said his report was not acted upon by then-President Rodrigo Duterte and other top officials of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Acierto said he later faced allegedly bogus drug charges because his report tagged persons supposedly close to the then-President.
Lin Wei Xiong is the financial manager of Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp., the firm that bagged at least P4 billion worth of government contracts for the purchase of COVID-19 supplies.
Lin is already facing multiple graft charges over the allegedly anomalous pandemic supplies contract.
Back in 2021, then PDEA chief Wilkins Villanueva cleared both Yang and Lin of drug links.
On Thursday, Acierto said the police and PDEA cleared Yang and Lin without proper investigation. —NB, GMA Integrated News
