Poland affirms support for defense cooperation with PH, upholding int’l law
In celebration of the National Day of the Republic of Poland, the Embassy of Poland in the Philippines reiterated the Polish government's commitment to strengthening defense cooperation, upholding a rules-based order, and emphasizing the importance of international law within the region.
Speaking during the event, Anna Krzak-Danel, Chargeé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Poland in Manila, stated, “The Philippines can count on our support as we look forward to enhancing political dialogue between our countries.”
As a member state of the European Union, Poland stands by the arbitral ruling that invalidated China's expansive claims in the West Philippine Sea. Additionally, Poland has been instrumental in supplying the Philippines with Black Hawk helicopters and has emerged as one of the country's top trading partners among EU nations in 2023.
Krzak-Danel further expressed Poland's determination to strengthen its defense cooperation with the Philippines, including potential partnerships in maritime security and other related activities, with plans to enhance the country's military capabilities.
"We plan to increase this further to expand the current administration's military capabilities," emphasized Krzak-Danel.
In response, Philippine Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Affairs Jesus Domingo extended congratulations to Poland on its National Day and expressed gratitude to the Polish government for its support and stance on the geopolitical situation in the Indo-Pacific region. — BM, GMA Integrated News
