The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Wednesday said it has activated its Intelligence Command to address “evolving security challenges.”

“The AFP Intelligence Command was activated on 21 August 2024 to enhance the nation’s intelligence capabilities in response to evolving security challenges. This renewed establishment addresses the pressing need for a more adaptive and efficient intelligence,” she told reporters.
“Prefer not to respond in detail at this time. We are focused on enhancing coordination across all intelligence units to ensure a unified approach to emerging threats,” she added.
Lieutenant General Ferdinand Barandon heads the Intelligence Command, according to the AFP. He was recently promoted to a higher rank on November 5.
