Housing amortization for Kristine victims to resume Dec. 1 —NHA
The moratorium on housing amortization for members affected by the Severe Tropical Storm Kristine will be implemented all throughout November to ease their financial burdens, the National Housing Authority (NHA) said on Monday.
The amortization will resume on December 1.
“Ang moratorium ay automatikong ipapatupad para sa mga benepisyaryo sa buong bansa mula November 1 hanggang November 30 ngayong taon. Magsisimula muli ang pagbabayad ng amortization and lease payments sa December 1, 2024 na po,” said Cromwell Teves, NHA NCR South Sector Office Corporate Planning Department manager in an interview with Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon.
(The moratorium will be automatically implemented nationwide from November 1 to 30 this year. The payments for amortization and leases will resume on December 1, 2024.)
The NHA official added that there will be no delinquency or additional interest during the moratorium period.
“So kung anumang penalties at interest na naipon bago ang November 1 ay muling magsisimula lamang sa December 1, 2024,” Teves added.
(Whatever penalties or interests earned before November 1 will also resume on December 1.)
The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) earlier directed NHA and other key shelter agencies to pause the housing moratorium of all affected members during Kristine’s onslaught.
Data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that there 211,792 houses damaged worth over P3.4 million during the havoc of Kristine and the recent Typhoon Leon.
Meanwhile, the NHA said that there are around 80,000 housing units in the pipeline under the Marcos administration.
“Ito yung mga proyektong nakakakasa na ating itatayo sa iba’t-ibang bahagi ng bansa…Ito ay binubuo ng 85 na proyekto,” said Teves.
