According to Isa Avendano-Umali’s report on Super Radyo dzBB, House committee on good government and public accountability chairperson Joel Chua sought the ILBO concerning their ongoing inquiry into the office’s use of its budget, including confidential funds.
An ILBO instructs immigration officers to alert authorities should the subjects attempt to leave the country.
In his letter to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, Chua reportedly said that the testimonies of the officials are important in the investigation.
The committee supposedly received information that the officials may leave the country.
In October, the House committee also issued a subpoena against them.
GMA News Online has sought comment from the DOJ and the OVP but has yet to receive a response as of posting time.
In August 2023, Vice President Sara Duterte maintained that there was "nothing irregular or unauthorized" about how the OVP funds were spent. It was COA that initially disclosed that the OVP spent P125 million in 11 days in December 2022.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF/NB, GMA Integrated News
