BI to deport 8 illegal aliens over alleged involvement in online scams

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is set to file deportation charges against eight undocumented aliens arrested in Alabang, Muntinlupa City over their alleged involvement in online scams. 

The BI intelligence division nabbed the foreigners in three separate streets inside an exclusive village in Alabang on October 22. Of the eight foreigners, seven were Chinese, while the other one was Vietnamese. 

An initial investigation found that two of them were overstaying aliens and one was suspected to have illegally entered the Philippines. 

“We have found reason to file deportation cases against them,” said BI Commissioner Joel Viado in a news release on Friday. 

“They will be considered undesirables once their cases are resolved, and face deportation,” said Viado. 

Viado said the BI received information that smaller “pockets” of scamming hubs are forming after the closure of big POGO hubs in the country. He also said they are coordinating with the Department of Justice and other law enforcement agencies to ensure the arrest and deportation of syndicate members. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
