DOH: Hospitals on Code White Alert until Nov. 2
The Department of Health has placed hospitals under Code White Alert during the observance of All Saints' and All Souls' Days.
In a statement, the Health Department said the Code White Alert will be in effect from November 1 to 2 when Filipinos flock to cemeteries to visit the tomb of their late family members and friends.
A Code White Alert means all health workers such as general and orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, internists, operating room nurses, ophthalmologists and otorhinolaryngologists stationed in hospitals stand ready to respond to medical emergencies at any time.
In addition, the Code White Alert also covers the hospitals’ Operations Center (OPCEN) to coordinate responses with the DOH regional and central office.
In addition, the DOH reminded the public to visit cemeteries outside of peak hours, as well as to bring water, food, first aid supplies, and umbrella.
While in the cemetery, the public should remain hydrated, avoid long exposure to sunlight, always sanitize hands, and be alert for any symptoms of heat stroke like dizziness and loss of consciousness.
Those who will be driving are also advised to check their vehicles’ battery, lights, oil, water, brakes, air, gas, engine tools as well as their personal health being before driving.
Further, the Health Department cautioned against drunk driving. It added those who lack sleep should not to drive.—Llanesca Panti/AOL, GMA Integrated News
