More airport passengers expected in Undas 2024 vs last year — BI
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is bracing for an expected rise in passenger volume at the country's airports over the long Undas weekend compared to last year.
According to the BI, some 41,000 to 47,000 daily passengers are seen to arrive in the Philippines, while daily departures are forecast at 43,000 to 48,000.
This is slightly higher than last year's daily tallies, wherein passengers averaged 37,000 for departures and 36,000 for arrivals.
Last year's All Saints' Day, Nov. 1, came on a Wednesday.
"We have ramped up our operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) with additional personnel to maintain a smooth flow of passengers," BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said in a press statement.
"Our team is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the public receives efficient, reliable service," he added.
Around 58 new immigration officers were deployed for the expected influx of passengers. Meanwhile, the BI also implemented the "no leave" policy for Undas.
"We are also activating our rapid response units to address any sudden increases in passenger traffic, particularly during peak hours," said Viado. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
