Miru completes manufacture of 110,000 ACMs for Eleksyon 2025

South Korean firm Miru Systems Inc. has finished manufacturing and is set to deliver the last batch of automated counting machines (ACMs) to be used in the 2025 national and local elections (NLE), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Thursday.

Data shared to reporters showed that at least 10,000 ACMs are being transported by truck to Busan Port in South Korea for delivery to the Philippines. A total of 78,456 out of the 110,000 ACMs are currently stored at the Comelec warehouse in Biñan, Laguna.

Meanwhile, a total of 37,329 ACMs underwent hardware acceptance test (HAT), while at least 41,127 were queued for the same examination.

"The ACM manufacturing has been completed almost two months ahead of the timelines," the poll body said.

"By November or a month ahead of the December full delivery schedule, we expect all 110,620 ACMs to be fully delivered to COMELEC," it added.

In a separate statement, the poll body said the ACMs are set to arrive at the container terminal in South Korea by November 3 and may be shipped to the Philippines by November 4, 2024.

In September, the Comelec said it was expecting Miru to finish the delivery of all ACMs by November—a month ahead of schedule as the firm earlier promised to complete the delivery of the machines in December.

Earlier this year, the poll body awarded to Miru the P17.99-billion contract for the procurement of a new automated election system for the 2025 elections. The contract covered ACMs and peripherals, including ballot boxes and laptops.

The contract has been questioned before the Supreme Court over alleged violations of the poll automation law. — VDV/AOL, GMA Integrated News
