GMA News Online scores 2 major wins in 46th Catholic Mass Media Awards

GMA News Online won in two major categories for print in the 46th Catholic Mass Media Awards on Monday.

"A Constitution named Freedom: The interim Charter under Cory Aquino," written by political news producers Llanesca Panti and Hana Bordey won in the Best News Coverage category.

The winner for the Best Investigative Report is the piece done by Marco Romas, entitled "Wombs for Rent." 

"A Constitution Named Freedom" featured amid efforts to change the 1987 Constitution the narratives by two respected Supreme Court magistrates about how and why then-President Corazon Aquino ordered the quick crafting of a fundamental law to move away from a revolutionary government framework and its "absolute powers."

"Wombs for Rent" told the stories of women offering on the internet their wombs as temporary sanctuaries for babies who would be other people’s children with fees ranging from P300,000 to P1 million.

The latter is Marco Romas' written version of the documentary of the same title he did for DigiDokyu.

• Best Adult Educational / Cultural Program – Agripreneur  
• Best Entertainment Program – The Voice Generations
• Best Drama Series /Program – Lilet Matias, Attorney-At-Law
• Best Drama Series /Program (Special Citation) – Magpakailanman 

Radio

• Best Business News – DZBB Super Serbisyo, Trabaho at Negosyo, Super Radyo DZBB 594 KHZ

The CMMA is organized by the Archdiocese of Manila, and is given to entries coming from radio, press, advertising, television or film.

The finalists chosen are individuals that have demonstrated exceptional creativity and dedication in producing content that uplifts values and inspires positive change. — BAP/NB, GMA Integrated News
