DSWD: P163.8M in aid provided to Kristine victims

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already extended more than a hundred million pesos worth of humanitarian aid to families and individuals affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

In its progress report, as of 6 a.m. October 26, the DSWD said the total cost of humanitarian assistance it provided so far was P163,843,918.47.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the agency has monitored 1.21 million affected families, or 4.6 million persons.

She said 277,000 family food packs had been released to the local government units.

The DSWD official said a family food pack is good for a family of five, which can last for two to three days.

Kristine has affected 7,453 barangays across the National Capital Region, Regions I, II, III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XIII, CARAGA, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The DSWD said that it has a total of P2,710,767,549.29 available relief resources, the bulk of which, or P2.5 billion, goes to food and non-food aid, while the remaining balance is standby funds. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
